Psalms: The Prayers of God’s People

Jesus references the Psalms more than any other book of the Bible. Maybe this book should be more prominent in our lives as well.

The Psalms were the hymn book of Israel, the people of God. These Hebrew poems cover a wide range of topics such as praise, thanksgiving, lament, confession, and wisdom. They help us understand who God is so we can understand how we ought to respond. Yet, we can be uncomfortable with the raw emotion they express in worship to God. Jesus didn’t shy away from expressing his emotions through the Psalms and neither should we! Please join us as we learn to read, interpret, and use the Psalms within worship for all of life.

Proverbs: The Way of Wisdom

Are the proverbs promises?

Many of us think that the proverbs are promises so we face disappointment when applying them doesn’t “work”. But the proverbs are meant to give us wisdom so that we have skill in the art of godly living. The proverbs invite us to contemplate the consequences of our actions which helps to shape our likes and dislikes so we become more Christlike. Please join us as we learn to read, interpret, and apply the proverbs as we gain wisdom for all of life.
