HPC Youth Happenings: 11/28/17

Dear Parents, Students and Volunteers,

This will be the last time you hear from me in this newsletter for several weeks. I am thankful for the opportunity to take a sabbatical over the next 5 weeks, I look forward to what God will do in me during that time, and I am confident that the Youth Ministry is in good hands while I am away.

Below are the normal youth happenings, including Christmas party details. But here are a few calendar notes for you as you look ahead to 2018:

December 24th, 31st: No Sunday School
January 7th: Sunday School and Underground return
January 10th: Dig resumes
January 12th: Leave for Uberfreezin'
January 14th: Underground will meet for those not on the ski retreat

Axis created these guides to help you understand the things your teens face, how to have conversations about them, and how to biblically disciple your teens into lifelong faith through it all.
Here's what else is happening:
1. Jamaica Missions Meeting: This Sunday, December 3rd directly following worship
  • All high school students who wish to commit to the Jamaica Missions Team should be at this meeting
  • This meeting is for students and chaperones only
  • Please bring a $50 deposit with you, or you can pay the deposit online here
  • Please bring one copy of your support letter. I sent 3 sample letters that you can edit and personalize via email last week
  • Lunch will be provided, and the meeting will last around 2 hours

2. Christmas Parties:
  • High School Christmas Party: Friday, December 8th at the Church
  • Middle School Christmas Party: Friday, December 15th at the McAfees' home
  • Both Christmas parties will have Ugly Christmas Sweater contest and White Elephant gift exchanges
  • On the gifts...they can be silly or normal, but please don't spend more than $10 on your gift
3. Would you like to earn money toward Uberfreezin' or a Mission Trip?
  • Several people in the church have offered to provide work to youth
  • If you want to help out and earn some money toward a trip, contact me THIS WEEK!

5. Dig is Tomorrow (Wednesday), November 29th from 6:30 - 7:45
  • Next week, December 6th, is our last Dig until January 10th
  • High School guys will NOT meeting next week

6. There is NO Underground this Sunday, or for the rest of December
7. Mentoring Program
  • 15 adults have gone through training to become youth mentors at HPC
  • The goal is for each adult to meet with a student on a regular basis for one-on-one discipleship
  • We hope that many of our students will get to take advantage of this.
  • In the near future, someone may contact you (parents) about meeting one-on-one with your son or daughter
  • If you would like more information about the program, give me a call!

In Christ,

Morgan Lusk
